Training Courses
1st Belt & Road Robotic Surgery Masterclass
In October 2021, the first International Training Course on Laparoscopic Techniques in Gastrointestinal Surgery for Countries along the Belt and Road was successfully held as part of the National Science and Technology Ministry’s Training Program for Developing Countries.
Over 40 surgeons from 19 countries across Asia, Europe, Africa and South America participated in a comprehensive 20-day training program through a combination of online and offline sessions.
The main venue was set at Xiangya Hospital, with sub-venues arranged in Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.
Leaders from the Hunan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Hunan Provincial Health Commission, Central South University and Xiangya Hospital attended the opening ceremony.


2nd Belt & Road Surgical Skills Workshop
From October 11 to November 2, 2024, the second International Training Course on Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery for Belt and Road Countries, a program under the Ministry of Science and Technology for Developing Countries, was held at Xiangya Hospital.A total of 28 surgeons from Brazil, Ecuador, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Cambodia, Viet Nam and other countries attended the training.

3rd International Training Workshop on Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery
From November 1 to 22, 2025, the 3rd International Training Course on Minimally Invasive Techniques in Gastrointestinal Surgery for Belt and Road Countries was successfully held in Changsha.Surgeons specializing in gastrointestinal surgery from 8 countries, including Russia, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Viet Nam, Bangladesh, Thailand and Cambodia, participated in the training.The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Liu Longfei, Vice President of Xiangya Hospital, and a welcome address was delivered by Professor Lei Guanghua, President of Xiangya Hospital.
